DATA & METHODOLOGY

Public regulator records, made easier to search.

RateFileAI starts with filings published by state insurance regulators. We organize those public records into a searchable evidence layer while keeping the source boundary and the gaps visible.

THE SOURCE

State regulator databases are the source of record.

Rate, rule, and form filings come from public state insurance department filing systems and databases. What a regulator publishes—and how it publishes it—sets the available record.

Public filings

Rate, rule, and form records

Filing metadata, submitted rates, effective dates, dispositions, and filing types where the public source provides them.

Public context

Documents and regulator context

Supporting documents, objections, and related context only when we have retrieved them from the public source. Where we have retrieved only the filing summary sheet, the actuarial memorandum, rate/rule manual, and exhibits remain with the regulator.

Source boundary

The original record stays authoritative

RateFileAI does not replace a regulator database or turn a normalized field into a new source of truth.

HOW IT WORKS

From public record to searchable evidence.

Every step keeps the original meaning close to the normalized view.

01 · COLLECT

Retrieve what is published

We acquire public filing records within bounded operational limits and retain the source identity needed to review them.

02 · NORMALIZE

Make comparable fields clearer

Carrier, state, line, dates, status, and filing identifiers are organized without silently filling missing values or rewriting source language.

03 · PRESENT

Keep evidence attached to the answer

Search results show the returned scope and record context. A live filing result supplies its authorized regulator handoff when one is available.

WHAT WE DO NOT INFER

A missing field is not a zero.

If the public source does not return a field, RateFileAI shows it as unavailable, not reported, or otherwise qualified. Coverage, freshness, and extraction depth can vary by state, filing system, line, and document.

Use the source for the final check.

RateFileAI supports research; it does not make regulatory, underwriting, actuarial, pricing, or legal decisions for the user. Confirm consequential conclusions against the original public regulator record.

NEXT STEP

Start with a filing question.

Search is the entry point: ask in plain language, inspect the returned scope, then review the evidence behind a result.
